The first stage of Pacific Fair’s redevelopment will open next month when the new Target relocation will be unveiled, as well as other specialty stores.

The $700 million redevelopment of Pacific Fair Shopping Centre is on track, project director Ian Spackman said.

“Renovations are well and truly underway at the shopping Centre now nine months into renovations,” Mr Spackman said.

“There will be an minor opening then, we will have a major opening at about July next year.”

Manager of Bamboo Blonde Gwencyphen Paull said it’s been a long overdue renovation for the shopping centre.

“The new renovation will mean more business and tourism for the centre,” she said.

“It’ll give Robina Town Centre a run for their money.”

Tourist Hayley Peacock, 29, from Sydney said she was shocked and surprised to see there was no Toys R Us or cinemas at the Centre during the school holidays.

“We are here on the coast for a week and cannot believe that there is no entertainment for the kids,” she said.

“But it will be great when the centre is finished.”

The Centre redevelopment is expected to be completed in early 2016 with plans for more than 420 new shops.
