The Arts Centre Gold Coast has an impressive 2015 line-up with internationally renowned folk singer Dan Sultan already having taken the stage.

The Centre’s Performing Arts Manager Brad Rush said that this season would present a stunning array of musicals, ballet, orchestra and dance.

“The productions that will be performing within the coming months are extremely diverse and our current aim is about diversifying our audiences,” he said.

“We are presenting contemporary musicals such as Swing On This which is not only highlighting some of Australia’s leading stage talents but also young Gold Coast talent.”

The Centre has cast year 10, 11 and 12 tap dancers to perform alongside veteran performers such as Michael Falzon (We Will Rock You, Rock of Ages), Matt Lee (So You Think You Can Dance, Mary Poppins), Ben Mingay (Wonderland, An Officer and a Gentleman) and Luke Kennedy (The Voice, The Ten Tenors).

The show is set to deliver a modern and contemporary take on many of the all-time swing classics on March 25 at 7.30pm.

The Arts Centre has already had success with Dan Sultan’s performance drawing a crowd of more than 400 people.

Australia’s homegrown folk/rock musician performed last Wednesday night with his intimate ‘Dirty Ground’ solo tour.

Unlike most of his tours, Dan presented a solo show that connected deeply with the audience and displayed his wide array of musicianship, said his manager Mel Jong.

Ms Jong, who works for Michael Parisi Management, said that Dan’s successful solo tour back in 2013 sparked the idea for this tour.

“He is such a good showman,” she said.

“This solo tour allows him to be intimate, funny and talk to the audience.”

Boonah resident Gretta Kelleher travelled for two hours east to see the show and said the drive was worth it.

“The show was incredible, I never wanted it to end,” she said.

“Dan Sultan is such a good performer, he really engaged the audience and kept us all laughing for most of the night.”
