English Premier League Manchester City FC have arrived on the Gold Coast where they will base themselves for 11 days in preparation for their 2015/2016 season.

The Premier League club Manchester City FC will play sister club Melbourne City FC in a friendly match to be held at CBus Super Stadium on Saturday. Gates open at 3.30pm and kick off is 5pm.

Varsity Lakes resident and Football fan Jesse Stubbs said he is thrilled the club has chosen the Gold Coast as their first stop off in Australia.

“The Gold Coast is capable of hosting high level sport and hopefully exciting events like this continue from here before and after the Commonwealth Games,” said Mr Stubbs.

“The Gold Coast offers international sporting teams and visitors the ideal snapshot of Australia.

“We have quality sporting facilities, luxury accommodation options, warm weather and a spectacular coastline and beaches.”

It is the first time the two sister clubs will meet in an official match.

The line-up for Manchester includes leading players Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart, David Silva and Yaya Toure.

Melbourne City FC counterparts include captain Patrick Kisnorbo and player of the year Aaron Mooy.

Burleigh Bulldogs Soccer Club representative Aaron Davidson said having elite international players on the Gold Coast is thrilling for soccer fans.

“Watching games of such a high level is a great motivation and inspiration for the future of young players,” Aaron said.

“I am sure there will be a massive turn out at the game on Saturday.”

Manchester City FC is preparing for their 2015/16 domestic and European campaigns during their training camp on the Gold Coast before they travel to Melbourne to tackle Real Madrid and AS Roma in the scheduled International Champions Cup.
