Family-owned business Burleigh Brewing Co is moving house to keep up with demand but is committed to staying in Burleigh.

Maintaining the name that has become synonymous with their product was essential for the company, said head brewer Brennan Fielding.

“We wanted to stay in Burleigh … to maintain being Burleigh Brewing Company, and not Southport Brewing Company,” he said.

He said they looked for a suitable location for a long time.

“We literally looked for three years,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer Peta Fielding said the move would allow them to rebuild the company from the ground up and create a more suitable home for the brewery.

“It gives us an opportunity to start from scratch and really build a home that we think is now befitting of Burleigh Brewing,” she said.

“A bit like when your kid grows up and you redo the nursery and turn it into the teenage bedroom.”

Mrs Fielding said that she feels as though they have a duty to their community, and maintaining a strong relationship with their customers is always a priority.

“We wont exist unless people out there choose to buy our beer,” she said.

“I don’t think just putting out a good product … is enough, we really want to honour the community that we work within.”

The brewery won’t begin operating at the new location until October, however Mr Fielding is confident that the wait will be worth it.

“We’re getting a very experienced manufacturing team making exactly what’s going to work for our brewery,” he said.

“We’re investing in things that will work really well with our brew house and the way we make beer.”
