Gold Coast universities have seen an influx in the number of international students due to the city being globally recognized as a reputable learning destination.

The number of international students has skyrocketed to 7000 in the past few years because of the modernity, beaches, and welcoming environment the city gives off.

Lizeth Chaparro, a Bond University Marketing student from Columbia, said being a Study Gold Coast ambassador had given her amazing opportunities.

“The main objective as a Study Gold Coast ambassador is to promote the Gold Coast as an academic destination for international students and let everyone know why we choose to come to this particular city to study and spend an important part of our life,” she said.

“The Study Gold Coast organisation gets international students involved in several activities for us to get to know a lot of people from different industries.”

Mohit Trived, an ambassador from India who studied International Tourism at Southern Cross University, said he was able to attend many international tourism networking sessions.

“As Mayor’s International Student Ambassadors I got to attend a lot of corporate events where there is a great opportunity to network with the industry. Also, I attended CISA (Council of International Students Australia) held in Melbourne in 2015 and represented SCU, City Of Gold Coast and India,” he said.

Lizeth said she was grateful to be a part of Study Gold Coast.

“Not only have they helped me excel in my studies but they have also offered me a casual job within their office to help me financially support myself while I finish my program at Bond,” she said.
