Gold Coast community spirit was on show last weekend at the Food Truck Feast in Broadwater Parklands where family and friends gathered for a day of healthy living.

The event was run in conjunction with Active and Healthy Zest Fest by promoting healthy food, exercise and spending time with family and friends.

Zest Fest kicked off with the Gold Coast Airport Marathon on July 4 and finished on Sunday.

Bev Poynton, holidaying from Melbourne, said the food truck festival had a great family and community atmosphere.

“It is great to see the children having an opportunity to partake in physical activities with the bean bag and spoon race, blow up slides, and Zumba classes on the stage,” said Mrs Poynton.

“It is also pleasing to see families and friends taking in the music and entertainment on the stage.”

The event included children’s athletic games, free dance classes by Swing on In and even a visit from Zero the Hero promoting road safety to children.

From burgers, to seafood, to juices or pancakes the Food Truck Feast had something for everyone, according to attendee Cheryl-Anne White.

“There is an extensive variety of food options and the food was amazing,” she said.

“The entertainment and family oriented activities ensure there is something for everyone”.

The day included live music by family band The Buckley’s covering classics such as Route 66 and even throwing in some original songs as well.
